PT JAS Airport Services Operates Five Apron Lower-Deck Buses at SHIA Airport.

The apron bus that has a low frame chassis is claimed to be the first type in Indonesia.

“The addition of the lower deck apron bus is an effort by JAS to fix the GSE (Ground Support Equipment) fleet,” said JAS Airport Services President Director, Mr. Adji Gunawan during the inauguration of the bus at the Terminal 3 Apron of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Thursday, August 9 2018.

With the operation of this lower deck bus, Mr. Adji Gunawan said that JAS’s efforts in complying with the KP Director’s Regulation 635 of 2015 regarding the standard of ground aircraft support equipment (GSE) and operational vehicles operating on the air side. The adherence meant, said Mr. Adji Gunawan, was the lower deck from front to back, monokok chassis namely the bus frame being united with the body and the chassis was not modified at all.

In addition to the lower deck, this 8-door apron bus has a sophisticated CCTV and air suspension with the ability to tilt to a certain level to make it easier for people with disabilities to freely ride up and down the bus. “This is a type of apron bus that is also used in international airports and global players such as Changi Terminal 4 and Swissport,” said Adji Gunawan.

An apron bus with a capacity of 105 people serves the process of moving passengers from the aircraft to the terminal or vice versa.

Transportation Ministry Equipment and Utilities Certification Section Section Head Cece Tarya said the lower deck bus had gone through a certification and feasibility process and met international standards. “New certification, can enter the air side, worth the operation. It is appropriate and without records, “he said at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
